From 1946 to future: U.C. Sampdoria’s Artistic project
The whole world of Sampdoria in a single work. A world that is not limited to the game of football but that includes much more: sea and city, emotions and feelings, people and – of course – colors. From 1946 to future is the name of the artistic project that the club of president Massimo Ferrero conceived and created in collaboration with the artist Melkio.
Tale. The fulcrum of the project is an artwork full of details and characters capable of combining sport, passion and territory in a single visual story. A work that U.C. Sampdoria has thought precisely to tell about itself and embellish the interiors of the new headquarters in Bogliasco, which is about to be inaugurated.
Sustainability. The paintings – a main one (200 x 140 cm) and other 8 unique pieces – were made with recycled wood in order to give new life to disused or thrown away material. This is an important aspect that underlines the club’s commitment to the environment and sustainability.
Charity. A commitment that also translates into social responsibility. A limited series of 100 numbered silk-screen copies of the main artwork will in fact be on sale on a smaller scale at SampCity. At 5.00 pm on Wednesday 15 December, Melkio will be in the new Sampdoria concept store in via XX Settembre, in Genoa, to personally autograph copies to those who purchase them for the exclusive occasion. The proceeds will be donated to the “Gaslini” Institute as part of the charity initiatives linked to Samp for People.
